MediaTek releases new Helio G85 in its Gaming Series

MediaTek announced its new its Helio G85 mobile gaming-focused chipset. It has 1GHz GPU and HyperEngine enhancements. These upgrades are for sustained and longer gameplay.

The chipset supports incredible AI camera features for advanced imaging, integrated voice wake-up (VoW) to minimize power use, and dual 4G SIM capabilities for reliable connectivity.

It has an Octa-core processor with memory support of up to 8 GB. Premium Multi-Camera support is provided with a mix of wide-angle, telescopic, macro, and sensor sizes up to 16 + 16 MP or a single large 48MP.

Accurate Inertial Navigation support is provided with an accurate indoor location, underground, or driving through tunnels.

This should really help to increase the MediaTek presence in a large number of Medium-range phones with Gaming capability. MediaTek is essentially known for giving a good number of the chipset to mass production phones. They also have a few chipsets for Premium phones.

Its competitor, Qualcomm has also been launching lots of Medium-range chipset to increase the presence in this segment. However, it has not been very popular in these price bracket phones.
