Twitter is working on multiple fronts now and Twitter earlier this year showcased a new service, Super Follows, as part of its plans to ramp up its revenues from the platform. The new service allows Twitter users to charge their followers with exclusive and extra content – similar to other monetisation services offered by other social networking platforms.
Ahead of its official rollout, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong has shared screenshots of what the upcoming Twitter Super Follows service may look like.
According to The Verge, Wong’s tweet reveals that the Twitter Super Follows service will be available to users with at least 10,000 followers. Other criteria are at least 25 tweets in the last 30 days, and the user has to be above 18 years old. This is to the recent feature which is Twitter Spaces, a Clubhouse clone which allows users to participate in live audio chats, is now available to everyone with 600 plus followers.
Wong’s discovery also corroborates Twitter’s earlier preview that the Super Follows service will come with bonus content, which in Twitter’s case could be exclusive tweets for their Super Followers.Twitter is working on Super Follows application.
Requirements
- Have at least 10000 followers
- Have posted at least 25 Tweets in past 30 days
- Be at least 18 years old
Even as Twitter has not commented on Wong’s latest update, the app researcher is known for her accuracy, especially for the upcoming and under trial features. The Verge report notes that Twitter Super Follows appears to be a Patreon-like service.
It is worth noting that Twitter has already begun experimenting with features that allow users to make direct payments on the platform. Last month, it launched a Tip Jar that allows users to make payments to creators through Twitter. The company said it would not take a commission on the Tip Jar payments.
Twitter Super Follows is likely to be available as soon as Twitter takes Twitter Blue, its premium subscription services, global.
