Facebook Portal now supports Messenger Rooms for Video calls. 

Video Conferencing is now the focal point for all the major technology companies. Every big company wants a slice of the pie. Facebook today launched a host of upgraded features to its Portal screens.

Messenger Support

Your portal screen, starting today, can host the group video calls with Messenger Room on Portal.
You can host up to 50 people, and users can join the call as per their convenience. Even the users who don’t have a Facebook account can join video conferences.

“Hey Portal” Functionality

“Hey Portal” functionality will be enhanced to support the commands in British English and the ability to start WhatsApp calls.

Other updates

In other Facebook Portal updates, support for new backgrounds has been added. You can now blur your background or replace your background with a pre-selected image using Portal Spaces while on a Messenger or Messenger Rooms call on Portal.

Previously, the Facebook Live app on Portal lets users to broadcast to your personal profile, and now they can also go Live on your Facebook Pages and Groups.Users can now  go Live from Portal to Facebook Pages and Groups using the Portal Mini, Portal, or Portal+.

Facebook users can now share photos from the phone using the Portal mobile app with friends and family while on a Messenger call. New AR effects including AR Virtual Cards, which allow users to send immersive cards to celebrate special occasions has also been added in this update as per Facebook blog. Story Time on Portal will receive the titles The Okay Book by Todd Parr and How To Eat Pizza by Jon Burgerman in the coming updates.

Facebook recently has also launched a new tool called “Manage Activity” that allows users to search for old posts and let them archive or delete it.
This tool adds an email type feature to Facebook, with archive or delete features. You may want to keep certain content but to yourself only and may not want others to see on Facebook, it can be done by the Archive feature.  This could be funny but embarrassing posts!
