Clubhouse plans general release this summer as it crosses 2 million users on Android

Clubhouse plans general release this summer

Clubhouse shared this update at its recently hosted town hall meeting.

Clubhouse had launched globally on Android last month, and the app is already hitting new milestones. In about a week, Clubhouse said it registered over one million users. The audio chat app has now reached over two million users.

General Release

Clubhouse has big plans for the summer. The app which is currently invite-only will become publicly available this summer. At present, people have to get an invite to join Clubhouse. The company plans to make it possible for everyone to join the app without an invite.

“Heading for general release sometime this summer! That means the next few updates will be about discovery, notifications, and less visible but very crucial improvements,” Clubhouse said in a tweet.

Actually, Clubhouse invites aren’t very difficult to get if you have a good network of people on the app. But making Clubhouse invite-free would let anyone easily join the app. In addition to this, Clubhouse also plans on improving discovery on the app, and notifications as well.

However, there have been user reports of some features not working on the Android app, and some bugs as well. Clubhouse had previously said it would work on making its Android app on par with the iOS app. It looks like there are still quite a few things to fix on the Android app.

Things are looking good for Clubhouse with its Android debut but it’s yet to catch up to its iOS counterpart. The Android launch also came at a time when rivals launched or are gearing to launch their Clubhouse versions.

Facebook is already testing its Clubhouse alternative, and Instagram has also been spotted testing audio rooms. Twitter has also opened with Spaces, and has bigger plans in coming days.
